Sacramento Loaves and Fishes

Scope and Impact

This project aims to collect essential goods and supplies for Sacramento Loaves and Fishes, an organization that provides an oasis for homeless men, women, and children seeking survival services. With the help of local community members and volunteers, HBB is planning to put together stockings with various items. HBB will collect donations of clothing, hygiene products, baby items, and other essentials detailed on the Loaves & Fishes Needs. HBB plans to collect donations through December 2016 then deliver everything to Loaves and Fishes before Christmas. This is an opportunity to help many disadvantaged people, of all ages, at a local level since Loaves and Fishes is run on private donations.

Success Criteria

We will deem this project successful when we are able to collect enough supplies for at least 12 individuals.

Progress Update

In the winter months of 2016 and 2017, led by our youth leaders, and with the tremendous support of the community, HBB was able to collect and purchase essential items for the homeless individuals living in Sacramento. Both years, many friends and community members came forward and donated bags filled with new and gently used warm clothes, blankets, tarps, and raincoats for the homeless people that Sacramento Loaves & Fishes serves. As a holiday gift, young elves filled up 24 stockings with gift cards, hats, gloves, lip balm, bath essentials, and other care items for adults and children.  Additional gift cards, sleeping bags, health bars and canned food was also donated
