Ashar Alo

Ashar Alo

HBB and Girl Scout Brownies Troop 1778, led by Dr. Halima Karim and Jamie Anderson, initiated a drive in September and October 2015 for special need kids in collaboration with the Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association. While a Bangladesh Navy ship anchored at Coast Guard Island, our volunteers took the time to collect and deliver school supplies to the ship to ultimately be delivered to the kids of Bangladesh.

Scope and Impact

The Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Assocation has been running a project called “Ashar Alo” which aims to build a society in which people with disabilities can live lives with the same opportunities as everyone else. A center has been established in Chittagong, Bangladesh to provide special education, physical treatment, and vocational training. So, HBB and Girl Scout Brownies have teamed up to purchase and donate school supplies to this center.
